WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

Dental implants are 3-part artificial teeth. Each has a titanium screw that an oral surgeon places in your jaw. An abutment protrudes from the implant and holds the crown. The crown is the visible part of the implant that looks like a tooth.

HOW DO DENTAL IMPLANTS WORK?

Implants are made of titanium and permanently fuse with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration. This effective bonding of these teeth replacement method allows for eating, chewing, and biting that feels and functions completely natural.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A DENTAL IMPLANT?

The process of getting a dental implant can take up to 18 months, but we customize each treatment to your unique needs and consider the complexity of your case, including a potential need for bone grafting.

ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS RIGHT FOR ME?

Dental implants are a safe and viable option for most patients. Even if you have been told that you have an insufficient bone mass to support an implant tooth, bone grafting techniques to bulk up the bone are very successful. Schedule an appointment with us, and we’ll be able to give you a more accurate evaluation of your candidacy for dental implants.

WILL I NEED TO HAVE BONE GRAFTING?

Typically, patients who have been missing a tooth for more than a month require some bone grafting. Dr. Huh takes time to evaluate the surgical site and your particular needs and advise accordingly.

WILL I MISS WORK?

Not much. Our patients usually take the rest of the day off, following an implant procedure, but they are able to return to work the following day with very little discomfort.

DO DENTAL IMPLANTS HURT?

No. The surgical site is kept numb during implant surgery, and there are a variety of anesthetic options to choose from if you’d prefer more sedation. As the anesthesia wears off later in the day, you can manage any mild discomfort with over-the-counter medications.
